Animal Care and Training

Students completing the program prerequisites, the general education requirements, and the required courses (61 specified units) receive an Associate in Science Degree in Exotic Animal Training and Management.

Students who complete the EATM program will acquire practical knowledge and skills to successfully perform scientific observations, provide appropriate animal husbandry, and apply animal behavior modification to a wide variety of domestic and non-domestic animals to further animal welfare and wildlife conservation.

In addition, students will develop skills in critical thinking, communicating effectively, and working as a dynamic team member.

This program offers preparation for students interested in entering the expanded animal care industry.

The increasing importance of zoos and wildlife education to the efforts of conservation as well as the use of animals in various entertainment fields present many career options to graduates of this curriculum.

Entry-level positions exists in zoos, oceanariums, animal parks, government facilities, wildlife rehabilitation centers, and the entertainment field..
