INTRODUCTION TO NATIVE AMERICAN STUDIES
Prerequisites: None Class Hours: 3 lecture Surveys the origins and development of Native American cultures within North America from an anthropological perspective. Assesses the contribution of archaeology and anthropology to our understanding of Native culture, from the peopling of the New World to the growth of complex societies such as Chaco Canyon and Cahokia. Examines the history of Native and Non-Native contact through time, including relations with the Federal Government. Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC
