INTRODUCTION TO CRIMINOLOGY

  • 3 units

Analyzes the sociological aspects of crime, criminal behavior, and the criminal justice system. Explores the history and social construction of crime and criminality and examines the definition of crime and its violations as well as the laws and methods used to control criminal behavior. Discusses the measurement of crime and basic theoretical explanations of criminal behavior. OTHER: Provider number CEP 2811 for 45 contact hours. Course Credit Limitation: UC - SOC M15 and SOC M16 combined; maximum credit, one course. Transfer credit: CSU; UC. Applies to Associate degree. C-ID: SOCI 160.
