INTERMEDIATE NURSING SCIENCE II
Part 1: Provides the theoretical concepts of patient-centered, evidence-based intermediate medical-surgical nursing care of adult patients with common to complex, acute, and chronic healthcare needs using the nursing process related to health promotion and self-care deviations in common and emerging healthcare settings. Includes concepts of care of patients with healthcare deviations of the renal/urinary, male reproductive, endocrine, advanced gastrointestinal, and neurologic systems. Part 2: Provides the theoretical concepts of patient-centered, evidence-based nursing care to psychiatric and geriatric patients using the nursing process related to health promotion and self-care deviations in common and emerging healthcare setting. Prerequisites: NS M02 and NS M02L, and admission to Nursing Program and completion of Nursing Program prerequisites. Corequisites: NS M03L. Field trips may be required. Transfer credit: CSU. Applies to Associate Degree. Limitations on Enrollment: Admission to the Moorpark College Nursing Program. Criminal background clearance; Drug and alcohol clearance; Proof of freedom from and immunity to communicable diseases; No acrylic or long nails in clinical settings; Current negative TB test or chest x-ray; Physical examination demonstrating general good health; No visible tattoos or visible body piercings except single studs in earlobes. CPR BLS Provider card from American Heart Association only. Los Angeles City Hospital Fire and Life Safety card. Current health insurance. Current student nurse liability insurance.
