Prerequisites: None Recommended Prep: CJ M01 or CJ M01H, and ENGL M01A or ENGL M01AH Class Hours: 3 lecture C-ID: AJ 120 Introduces the historical development and philosophy of law. Reviews constitutional provisions, definitions and classifications of crimes and their application to the criminal justice system. Examines concepts of the law as a social force. Explores crimes against persons, property and the state as social, religious and historical ideology. Defines common and statutory law and the nature of acceptable evidence and defenses to crimes. Employs legal research and review of case law methodology to introduce students to criminal law. Applies to Associate Degree. Transfer credit: CSU; UC
