Surveys United States history with an emphasis on the African American experience from the era of Reconstruction to the present. Focuses on the political, social, economic, cultural and intellectual trials of African Americans and their contributions to the growth and development of the United States. Satisfies US-1 (historical development of American institutions and ideals) requirement of CSU Title V.
